Chief Executive Officer Mark Elliot Zuckerberg revealed Tuesday that his social platform Instagram will soon introduce NFT (non-homogenized tokens).
"We're working to bring NFT to Instagram in the short term," Zuckerberg reportedly said at the South by Southwest conference in Austin, but he did not reveal a specific timeline.
A source also revealed that Zuckerberg also said at the conference that he hopes Instagram users will be able to cast their own NFTs on the platform within the next few months.
The introduction of NFT seems to have become a signature move for social giants to enter Web 3.0.
In January, U.S. social giant Twitter announced that it would launch a program on its subscription service Twitter Blue that would let users use NFTs as their avatars. This was followed by the announcement that Reddit, a well-known forum, was also testing a new feature that would allow users to set holding NFT assets as their avatars.
